Claudius is the reason Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are important characters in this play. They are being called to Denmark by the King to spy on Hamlet because he has suddenly gone mad over something and the King wants to find our the reason for his madness. As loyal friends to Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are perfect spies for King Claudius. Now if only Hamlet hadn't heard the entire plan...

She has been kind to us but recently her desire to figure out Hamlet's madness and agreement with Claudius that we should spy on her own son is rather troubling...

Polonius is the father of Ophelia, Hamlet's lover, but he has also attempted to help the King on several occasions to take down Hamlet. He is like us only older because he needs to be deceptive in order to understand the motives behind Hamlet's madness. We do, however, feel he is a bit self-centered by believing that his daughter is the sole cause for Hamlet's mental state...

Colonel Graff from Ender's Game is a man who constantly attempts to manipulate Ender Wiggin in order for him to fight in an epic clash against the Buggers. It is a battle between adults and children and Graff's deceptiveness eventually breaks Ender down as he realizes that he was manipulated all along. Act I
Act II We have been sent by King Claudius to watch over Hamlet to figure out why he has gone mad. How could we be called upon by the King of Denmark to spy on our great friend? But what can we do? We have no choice in the matter, Claudius is the King. We cannot go against his demands. But what kind of friends are we if we are to deceive a friend we have known for many years into thinking we are still loyal to him? Curse thee Claudius! What a predicament you have put us in! May God pity our souls for our actions and may he show no mercy on you for the sins you have committed. "None, my lord, but {that} the world's grown honest."
Act III
Murder!? How could our beloved friend Hamlet commit such a horrendous act? We have known him for so long. Sure, he has been acting a little bit out of character as of late, but murder? He would never do such a thing. What could have possibly been the motive behind this slaying of dear Polonius? Hamlet truly is mad! We cannot associate ourselves with a psychopath. He is clearly ill and is a threat to not only the king of Denmark, but everyone around him, including his friends. How do we know that we are not going to be his next victims? Where will this bloodshed end. The king is not safe. He should forget about getting Hamlet to England because Hamlet will not go to England without a fight. Instead, he should care more about preserving his own well-being and flee the country. It is too risky to stay in Denmark when Hamlet has shown that he can be extremely dangerous, more dangerous than Claudius could have ever imagined. We cannot help but feel helpless in this situation. What can we do to prevent Hamlet from commiting another murder? If we attempt to stop him, he may feel we are his enemy and will try to kil us. If we try to help Claudius escape from Hamlet, our friend will believe the same thing and come after us. We cannot possibly reason with him, he is too filled with rage to listen to the voices of reason. What can we do?

Act IV
Hamlet! Why must you speak words that are like daggers at us? How can you condemn us when you have known us for so long? You say we are like sponges? Surely you are jesting at this notion for, if we must discuss sponges, this title you have placed on us can just as easily be placed on you. You are soaking up the King's love and patience for you by acting as mad as you are, yet you don't even realize it. Instead, you simply continue to tear away at his heart. Killing the innocent Polonius, being completely rude to Ophelia (a woman you have claimed to love before), acting in spite of your own mother is just downright disgraceful. What say you Hamlet? Have you no shame for what you have done to your family ties, your lover, and all others around you. You have betrayed our love, yet feel no remorse for it. When will your madness stop. Your lunacy has drove your love, Ophelia, to a watery grave. You killed her father and, as a result, you created another person who acts and talks like you, only this time in a female form. You want to feel like the innocent victim in this entire situation and condemn us as sponges King Claudius, claiming we soak up his approval, his rewards, and his decisions. However, if you are going to make these types of foolish claims, and foolish they are indeed, you must look inside yourself and tell us directly to our faces that you are not a monster inside who deserves to be condemned as well. It is well-known that you lost your father and that you still grieve over his death, but should the lives of others, such as Ophelia and Polonius, be sacrificed for your insanity? See the error of your ways Hamlet. You are not an angel here. You are no longer looked upon in Denmark as the beloved son of the former King Hamlet, the beloved nephew of Gertrude and King Claudius, the lover of Ophelia, and our beloved friend. You are simply a demon.

Act V
Hamlet! You have finally done it! You have seen the error of your ways and have asked for forgiveness. However, it is too late now, as you are dead, poisoned by the rapier of Laertes. You have now come to terms with teh one element of life you feared most. Instead of fearing death, you have accepted it as a necessary part of life. Death is inevitable and can affect anyone in its path. Look at all of the lives that have been affected by death in the span of a few days Hamlet. Polonius, Laertes, and King Claudius fell to your sword, Ophelia succumbed to drowning, your dear mother died from accidental poisoning in a drink she thought was hers, and you, dear Hamlet, have been slain by a vengeful Laertes. You can now see what your apparent madness has caused not only your demise, but the demise of others, including us, your once loyal, beloved friends. Hopefully you will reunite with your father in heaven Hamlet. You were considered mad when truly you were just pretending in order to hide your grief over the death of your father. He was a great man and we still believe that you are a great individual as well (though we could've done without the execution). God bless you Hamlet, farewell.
